During more than ten years of existence, Centre for Social Policy Initiatives has implemented a large number of projects and activities. To make the orientation easier, we organised our activities in several areas of work. Since the beginnings of CSPI, children without adequate parental care are in its focus. Also today, the majority of CSPI's projects targets this group of children and the professionals working with them.

Foster Care

The project of the education of professionals is implemented from 2006 to 2008, in cooperation with the University of Göteborg and Croatian Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

The project "Training of Experts, Professionals and Foster Parents in the Area of Foster Care in Croatia" was implemented from 2003 to 2006, in cooperation with the Croatian Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and the University of Zagreb, and University of Göteborg, and Swedish governmental and non-governmental organisations/ agencies.  more...

Children's Homes

Young volunteers and collaborators of CSPI have designed and currently implement the project of life-skills development and support to the young people living in children's homes, who are in preparations to leave the institution - secondary school pupils and the young living in independent housing units. more...

Separated children, foreign nationals

In cooperation with the Ombudsman for Children Office and the Ministry of Justice (Judicial Training Agency), CSPI is implementing the education for the judges of Minor Offences Courts and other professionals who get in contact with separated children, foreign nationals. more...

All CSPI's projects that include children or professionals working with/ for them, have their basis in the organisation's need for full respect of children's rights, as described in the UN Convention on the Right of the Child, and the need for careful implementation of all activities for/ with children, bearing in mind the child's best interests.

Since 1997 CSPI has been implementing the mentoring program Velika sestra veliki brat (VSVB), with the purpose of individual support to children at-risk. VSVB is based on common efforts of volunteers and professionals. more...

The need for the establishment of Social Council has emerged from the need to efficiently meet the needs of the citizens in social sector.
The project group, consisted of the representatives of CSPI, School of Social Work, and the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, cooperates with the City of Zagreb, and monitors and analyses the situation of social sector in Zagreb, and based on that analysis develops yearly Social Pictures of the City of Zagreb.
Social Picture is used for the upgrading of quality of life of the inhabitants of Zagreb, and especially its vulnerable groups, through the development of the Plan of Social Interventions. Social Picture, as well as the possibilities for the improvement of meeting the needs of the citizens of Zagreb in social sector, are discussed in public discussions by the responsible professional bodies and interested citizens.
